In de milion dollar shoes post noemde ik mijn andere geweldige Milaan aankoop voor D-day al even, maar ik had nog beloofd een fotootje van de schatjes te posten… Dus bij deze!

En vooruit, deze lovely red ladies zijn het wel waard om meer dan 1 foto aan te wijden toch? Dit waren de schoenen die ik binnen een half uur Milaan shopping al in mijn tas had zitten, over deze aankoop (eerste zijstraat vanaf de Duomo links ) hoefde ik zoals je vast begrijpt niet zo lang na te denken!

De heels zijn dan wat mij betreft sky high maar ik droeg ze tijdens het D-day eten, dus ik kon er vooral mee zitten Ik combineerde de vuurrode pumps met een hagelwit jurkje dat ik nog een week voor aanvang heb laten inkorten, zie de foto hieronder (met mijn allerliefste vriendinnetje, getuige en partner in Milaan shopping crime!)…

Vooruit, zo vlak voordat het weekend lekker losbarst dan nog maar een opwarmertje totdat ik een complete D-day snapshot collage het web opgooi…

Na het tipje van de sluier van gisteravond heb ik hier dan eindelijk hét antwoord op de million dollar question! Maandenlang heb ik me afgevraagd op welke schoenen ik die laatste ‘single’ stappen zou zetten en vele opties passeerden de revue. Ik heb het world wide web uitgebreid afgespeurd en me afgevraagd welk schoeisel (en vooral: wat voor hakken!) het allerbest bij de mooiste jurk van de wereld zouden passen.

Uiteindelijk ben ik met mijn allerliefste beste vriendinnetje (én getuige!) van de zomer afgereisd naar Milaan. Zij ging voor dé D-day jurk, ik voor dé D-day schoen. Zouden we in deze modestad van Zuid-Europa slagen op onze missie!? Nou, daar kan ik volmondig ‘ja’ op zeggen. Zij kwam met 2 geschikte D-day jurkjes én hele mooie bijpassende heels thuis, ik had mijn arme koffer volgepropt met niet 1, niet 2, niet 3 maar 5 paar schoenen!

Niet al die schoenen waren bedoeld voor die o zo mooie dag in augustus, er zat bijvoorbeeld ook een paar Nike dunks tussen (alhoewel dat best bij mij had gepast toch?). Maar… 3 van de 5 nieuw aangeschafte shoe candies waren zeker wel bedoeld voor D-day! Je weet toch nooit of een hak afbreekt, riempje kapot gaat of een schoen totaal niet bij dé jurk past!? En thank god was het net flinke sale in de Italiaanse shopstad én liepen we tegen de leukste kleine boetiekjes aan.

Ik had alleen een lapje stof van de jurk mee om te kijken of mijn beoogde D-day schoenen kleurtechnisch goed zouden matchen, maar de kleur alleen zegt natuurlijk helemaal niks over het feit of de schoenen goed zouden staan bij het totaalplaatje (model/uitstraling van de jurk etc)… Daarbij had ik bedacht dat ik tijdens het diner (voorafgaand aan het ja-woord) een andere outfit aan zou trekken, stel je voor dat er allemaal vlekken op dé jurk zouden komen!! Een leuke bijkomstigheid van dit ‘briljante’ idee; ik kon ook nog eens shoppen voor een tweede outfitje! Plus schoenen…

Uiteindelijk is de keus gevallen op de crèmekleurige/gouden high heels op bovenstaande foto. En ook al waren de hakken sky high, ik heb het er toch zeker tot de helft van het feest op volgehouden. De andere Milaan schatjes die ik tijdens het diner  aan heb gehad, zal ik nog in een andere post laten zien. Ben in de tussentijd wel benieuwd wat je van deze (in mijn ogen) million dollar shoes vindt!

Het kost me toch stiekem iets meer tijd dan gedacht om wat leuke pics te selecteren én bewerken voor de D-day foto post.

Er zijn zoveel geweldige foto’s gemaakt, hoe kan ik daar nou een keuze uit maken!? Daarom bij deze een klein tipje van de sluier, als zoethoudertje… En nee, ik droeg geen sluier!

It’s been like five to six months since my last post and a lot has happened…

D-day was a huge success (it’s impossible to describe, so I won’t even try), I’ll post a few pics in my next post. Afterwards Mister Chifff and I packed our bags and left for 3 weeks Bali quality time, which was amazing as well. But the biggest development in our lives right now?! Mister Chifff & I are expecting a mini-Chifff within a few months… So our world turned a bit upside down since we know, maybe that’s one of the reasons I haven’t posted for so long. But, I’m back and hopefully here to stay!

I’ve made a decision about my writing on this digital wall; I will write in Dutch from now on because I think it’s way easier & faster to express myself in my own language. And I might have to change the name of my blog; what do you guys think about ‘Diapers & shoes’?!

It’s been a while since my last post, sorry guys… Had lots of other things on my mind and I neglected this little blog a bit. Won’t happen again (I hope)!

Tomorrow is a huge day when it comes to the million dollar question… My bestie & I are travelling to Milan tomorrow evening. And what are we planning to do in this beautiful Italian city over the next couple of days? Besides eating lots of gelato, pizza & other Italian delicacies of course… We’re going on a major D-day shoe hunt! If there’s one place in the world where we can succeed, it’s got to be Milan, right?

I’m not sure if you guys noticed, but the gorgeous shoes I’ve posted in this category are all quite expensive. Because I can call myself a true D-day planner/expert by now, I should tell you a little secret. Planning such a mind-blowing, fabulous event as a D-day? It’s expensive as hell! Even though we’re not heading to the south of France with all of our guests. And even though we’re not using a beautiful, historical, breathtaking castle as a venue (although our venue is very beautiful & breathtaking as well!). And even though we’re not turning our D-day into our D-dayS, celebrating all the joy for 3 days in a row. Non of the above. We’re going for a very laidback, relaxed & fun D-day. But still, it’s not that budget friendly as I’ve hoped!

So, considering afore mentioned…. May be it’s a good idea to pick a budget friendly pair of shoes? I spotted these adorable wedges (I’m still thinking this might be the most appropriate kind of D-day shoe) in New Look’s web shop. They’re cute, summery and sexy! And did I mention cheap?

The D-day to-do-list is getting shorter by the minute. Thank god, because I’m still looking for the best option in the million dollar question. And of course, I need all the focus I can get in such an important matter…

Narrowing down all the D-day decisions, Mister Chifff & I also had to consider what kind of delicious treats we will be serving. Wondering if it was hard to choose? YES, it was! There is so incredibly much tasty to choose from! Like these cute Karl cupcakes by Alice in Cakeland, aren’t they adorable!?

I never would have guessed that Mister Lagerfeld could look so yummy!

Although I’m one of the unfortunate lovers who hasn’t seen the new flick yet, I’m all in the Sex and the City mood! While waiting for cinemas to be a little less packed  (I really love empty seats next to me & hate being surrounded by people who are noisy, laughing when it’s not funny and eating popcorn like they’re Bugs Bunny), I found a good way to have some quality SATC time… Look for suitable SATC cuties to be my next ‘million dollar question’ possibility!

It wasn’t hard to find an adorable pair of heels. I fell for SJP’s favourite pair of shoes: the Nicholas Kirkwood suede platform sandals! Don’t you just love them?

While  browsing through Bloglovin’ yesterday, I noticed actress Michelle Williams wearing these amazing wedges by Stella McCartney. First thought which came to mind: in my quest for the very best D-day shoe I haven’t yet found one noteworthy pair of wedges… Until now!

Quite strange that my favourite type of shoe, the wedge, was missing in this million dollar question category. But, hey, nobody’s perfect. Considering the amount of time I’ll have to walk, stand and dance when D-day arrives I should definitely keep in mind that wedges are far easier to cope with than those sky-high heels I nominated before.

So, these Stella cuties entered my top 3 in a flash!

Since my favourite Dutch designer & I still have the fabric hunt for THE dress ahead of us, there isn’t a specific colour to keep in mind while searching for the most important pair of heels yet. Considering my neon pink nail polish, my panther sneakers and the cobalt blue glasses I wear on a daily basis, it’s clear that there’s absolutely no chance you’lle catch me wearing yawnful, dull- coloured shoes on D-day. That’s why I picked these adorable two-toned, strappy Louboutins to be next on my list in this vital quest of the perfect shoe.
